With only a day left until the opening game it is almost impossible to
get away from the hype of this year's World Cup. People on the street in
Berlin are either talking about their favorite team or about how much
they are annoyed by this soccermania. I've decided to enjoy the games as
much as possible without favoring one team from the beginning.
There is always the classic underdog that I like to root for. Last time
Senegal filled this position. However, I am not sure yet who might catch
my attention this year. Of course, the Brazilian team is always good to
favor as well. This team is always a joy to watch, and the chances of
"your" team winning are excellent. My home country is not playing so the
closest I can get is the American team. Hopefully, they will have a few
good games.
On one hand, I would love to be more passionate about
one team to get the full excitement of the World Cup. On the other hand,
I am perfectly happy the way it is. I can watch the games, eat my
Bretzel, drink some beer and don't have to worry about getting into a
fight. After all, it is just a sport.
